The purpose of maternity and paternity leaves in Pakistan to provide the facility to the employees in the private sector and government sector especially for working women in Pakistan. The act which deals with the maternity leaves and paternity leave rules is called leave act 2020. This act is applicable to all departments including the private and government sector under the Federal government. This law is applicable only to Federal employees. According to leave act 2020 working women can avail 180 days leave on their first baby birth and 120 days on second baby birth and can also avail 90 days on 3rd baby birth. Maternity leaves only granted three times during the entire service. This act is passed by the special effort of Senator Quratulain Marri. Further, it is added that Maternity leave is granted on full pay.
Paternity Leave rules
Paternity leave is also given to male employees expecting his wife to childbirth. This leave is granted on full pay for the period of 30 days and can be availed three times during the entire service.
The need of Maternity Leave Rules
During the present age, the working women ratio is increasing day by day in the government and sector and private sector. Article 37 constitution of Pakistan is about the maternity e leaves rules for women employees. Constitution of Pakistan gives right to women for availing maternity leave.
Maximum Limits of Maternity Leave
It is pertinent to mention here that, the working women’s maternity leave period can be extended in the leave Act 2020 on special grounds by the competent authority. Previously only allowed for two times each term 90 days.
Maternity Leave Rules for Educators
The notification Infoghar Team is sharing here issued by the Government of Punjab. This was issued on 30th October 2020, still, no amendments are made. Maternity and Paternity leave is applicable according to this letter No.FD.SR.11-9-107/2012. In the province, Punjab revises ruled 19810 applicable. According to this rule, a female civil servant performing his duty under the Punjab government can avail a maximum of 90 days of leave with full pay beyond her leave account immediately.
It can be granted before childbirth. Maternity leave can be availed only two times during the entire service. It is further added that the requirement to provide a fitness certificate verified by the medical superintendent will not be required now according to this notification.
Paternity Leave Rules
Paternity leaves granted to the father according to the amended leave rule act 1981. Male civil servants can avail 7 days of paternity leave on full pay on the birth of a child. Paternity leave can be availed only two times during the entire service.
