Higher education Commission Pakistan warned the student that they Phasing out of 2-Year M.A/ MSc degree after the Year 2020. Students should avoid getting admission to M.A/ M.Sc program. These programs banned by HEC. Moreover, Higher Education Commission Department clarified through circular in this regard. An official notification issued to the concerned authorities this program its phase-out. Those universities that are offering this program are illegal.HEC will not verify the degrees. Students and Parents will personally responsible for this illegal act. The last chance for attaining M.A/ MSc degree will be March 2021. This date extended due to covid 19 situation in the country.
HEC issues final notification to phase out M.A/MSc degree
This Decision taken in The Higher Education Commission 31st meeting, in which it decided to phase out the two-year conventional M.A / MSc degree program. This letter forwarded to all degree-awarding institutions in the country-wide letter number 9-2(16)/ phasing out BA/BSc/curri/2016/982 issued on 15 March 2017 and No.691 dated 11 July 2019 to ensure a smooth transition and implementation by Higher Degree Awarding institutions. In addition, the student who fails to get admission in M.A/M.sc within the stipulated period will get admission in the 5th Semester of B.S Program (04 years degree program).
HEC stops recognizing 2-year degree program M.A M.SC
In this regard, the Higher Education Education commission issued instructions to all concerned authorities to comply with HEC’s decision. It is also strictly advised to ensure that same is communicated to all students through electronic and print media. Degree shall not recognize by HEC for students enrolled in 2 years MA/MSc degree program after December 31st, 2020. It is further added that HEC has not clarified yet the alternative degree of M.A/M.sc. Allam Iqbal Open University Ismalamad extended the last date of admission for the last batch of M.A/M.sc.
It is further added that Allama Iqbal University will not offer M.A and M.Sc two-year degree programs from next semester. This is the last chance to avail this opportunity to get this degree. The last date to apply for this program is March 31st, 2021. AIOU is the Pakistan largest University of higher education. The main campus of this university is located in H-8 Sector Islamabad.
